Hey,
I have a 2008 4,1 black polycarbonate MacBook Core 2 Duo with 4gb of RAM and a 250gb SSD, and I wanted to ask if it’s possible to update the firmware to the 5,2 firmware, so it’s possible to install El Capitan on it.
Would this even be possible?
I would thank for every answer :3

Since the machines are very different (Intel vs. NVIDIA chipset/GPU) I'd say there's a very high chance of bricking it by doing this, if it's even possible in the first place.

And you can install El Capitan on a 4,1, you just have to do an "unsupported" installation. You will not have graphics acceleration no matter what you do though, so the GUI will be very glitchy and sluggish, i.e. not very "enjoyable". The 4,1 is best left at an unsupported Mountain Lion installation as far as OS X is concerned IMO. Mountain Lion runs very well on it.
