Is it safe to update to Mojave now?

I keep on getting the update to install Mojave and I'm wondering if its safe to update now? are there any recent issues or problems or bugs that have been not solved yet? I'm thinking of updating my OS but I wanna make sure that it wouldn't crash my computer.

I feel it's safe, but maybe there are other programs you rely on that the forum isn't aware of.

I'd say Mojave is pretty stable now and a safe upgrade. You might want to check this ^ thread to see if any apps you rely on won't work.

I'm still running 10.11 because people said 10.12/10.13 are unstable/buggy. Does 10.14 more stable/less bug-prone than 10.13? I'm using MBP Mid 2012 15 inch

I'm running HighSierra on a 2012 MacMini - and for me, it's running great. No issues.

I'll be on-call over Christmas (yeah...) and so I'll keep it on HS for the time being.
I don't miss anything - and AFAIK, Font Antialiasing is gone in Mojave. If you have a Retina Display, that's probably not so much of an issue - but I only have a MacMini and so no GPU. Another reason why I put off the update.

You will always get some people reporting problems with any version of MacOS, including 10.11
Both 10.12 and 10.13 are super solid versions of MacOS (well, as solid as any other. Nothing is entirely bug free)
I have not installed 10.14 yet, but I see that most are running it without any issue whatsoever.

Mojave 10.14.1 is solid here on my cMP 5,1. No issues (and I actually started with the .0 release, something I've never done before in my decades using Mac). IMO Mojave is one of Apple's better OS's.

If I was you I would go to 10.13.6 - that seems pretty smooth. I am guessing from 10.11 you are going to have to upgrade some software whatever you do - more likely with Mojave. We are running 10.13.6 across the company with one newer machine on 10.14.1 as a test. Not all of our software is certified for Mojave yet, but is generally OK. We usually upgrade on mass about 10 months after release when we know what we are getting into. However you are at risk of falling behind with security updates.

The constant nagging notifications from Apple are a pain as some employees click the wrong thing and end up installing 10.14 (sometimes down the VPN on their phones – don't ask) and then break their bespoke apps!

For those curious about Mojave but just not sure yet. You can do what I did.…

A clean install of Mojave easily fits on a 64-128GB USB Stick / SD card, etc. with room left over for some test documents. So you can dual boot your current MacOS and Mojave 10.14.1 while you try it out. If Mojave looks good, start installing critical apps and testing them. If Mojave still looks good, you can continue building out your clean install of Mojave or upgrade your current startup drive to Mojave.

FWIW we went from El Capitan 10.11.6 to Mojave 10.4.1 on a late 2014 Mini and a late 2013 iMac 27” with no serious drama. I started with a clean install of Mojave 10.14.1 on a 128GB Micro SD card. Installed all of our 3rd party software. After testing it on both Macs, we simply kept booting Mojave on the Micro SD cards. Kind of a poor boy's SSD for older Macs with spinners inside

I think split-screen is buggy sometimes (preview+preview split screen sometimes crashes). There aren't Nvidia webdrivers for CUDA support yet, but if you don't have Nvidia internal/external GPU, you're fine. Drivers are always the main issue when upgrading macOS. Don't know why Apple changes the driver subsystem every version to mess with our peripherals (and sometimes even built-in discrete graphics).

10.14.1 running great here. Late 2014 5K (15,1). Graphics perf is actually better than under 10.11 (identical software; not even updated).
