OS X Is purchasing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Steam for Mac worth it?

I've been playing on console, but I've recently discovered that I'm a lot better at playing with a mouse and keyboard as I learned with playing COD4 on my Mac.

I've been thinking of purchasing Modern Warfare 2 for my Mac as well, but I'm wondering if the player base for the multiplayer on Mac is strong. Is it easy to get into Free-for-All or Team Deathmatch games? Has the game been hacked to bits? Is the game on Mac cross-platform with PCs?

All help will be appreciated!

If it's cross-platform multiplayer, it says so on Steam. Otherwise it just says "multiplayer".
