Hi All! I currently own a 1st gen iPad Pro, and an iPad mini from 10 years ago or so. I live in Europe, but I’m travelling in the US and as Apple is so much cheaper here I’m tempted to upgrade- I can get $250 trade in for the pro. So my question is, since the airs came out in 2020, is it still worth the purchase now?

Thanks!

I'd rather get a refurbished 2018 for the same price (Apple refurbished means basically new). I don't know if they do trade-ins with refurbished, but $250 for a 12.9 is not much (I don't know how much storage you have). But if selling it is not an option for you then do the trade-in.

It’s the 64gb WiFi only, so not a lot of storage.

I love my iPad Air but that depends on what you want to do with it. I think it’s well worth it and it’s also compatible with the Apple Pencil. The only slight issue I have with it is that it’s only about $150 less than the same size storage iPad Pro. It makes one consider the iPad Pro very strongly. The difference is you can get the iPad Air with only 64 GB so if you don’t need much storage that’s a savings. If you need the 256 GB model then perhaps consider the iPad Pro.

Yes it is still definitely worth it. The Air 4’s A14 CPU is going to feel much faster than the A9X. If you want a near 11 inch tablet and don’t need all the Pro features, then the Air 4 is a nearly-Pro device.

For you? I believe yes. It's basically an iPad Pro 11 on budget without the 120hz. If you've never used an iPad Pro 2018 - get the Air, you'll love it.

As some said here, if you can do it, refurb 2018 11' Pro is worth it if you can.

I have a 2018 11" iPad Pro with 256GB. There is no way I would agree to swap it for a new iPad Air 4.
The 2018 11" is really good, later models of the 11" provide very little real world improvement.

The refurb prices for these are very good value, IMO
