Is the orig. Universal Dock compat w/ iPhone 3G?

I have the original universal dock (the one w/ the round IR as opposed to the current model w/ eliptical IR). Does anyone know if this model is compatible w/ the iPhone 3G?

I got my dock when I got my 1st gen iPod Touch, and it works with my 3G just fine.

our apple store have original but old universal docks for the ipods section. when i connect my 3g it worked but gave me the "not supported accessory" message... i dont know why maybe its the cable or the machine connected to the dock, but its still works great (charged and not force me flight mode).
