Is there a charge to port your number?

I have Verizon and my iPhone is being shipped next week. I want to port my number over to AT&T. Is there a charge? If so, how much is it and is it a one time charge or is it a monthly charge?

No doubt someone here will know, but for now surely it would be smart to check out the carriers' websites?

Here in the UK there are no charges for number porting.

The only charges I have heard of are upgrading($18) and new activation($36) charges. Not porting
