I don’t want to restore to new

I want to recover files and or also use the phone the way it was.
A family member was fooling around with the passcodes now it’s disabled
What can I do without deleting anything ?

Have you been making backups? iTunes? iCloud? If not, restoring the phone is going to mean a loss of data. Once your phone is locked because of too many passcode attempts, there is no way to recover without data loss. (assuming no backup)

If you can't get into the phone, all you can do is restore it from the most recent backup. Anything new added to the phone since the last backup is gone forever..

You can update instead of restore, if it is not on the latest iOS. Then your data is preserved.
