iSight image is mirrored

I did a search (isight mirror backwards) bu did not find it any hits. Perhaps this is just so old of a topic I didn't go back far enough in all the hits (and mis-hits).

Is the iSight designed to show the image mirrored? I was wearing a logo tshirt yesterday and noticed the text was backwards when viewing myself in iChat. Surely there has to be a way to have iSight swap the image into a proper video image, instead of a mirror image.

Is the iSight designed to show the image mirrored?

Yeah, that's intentional, it's to keep you from getting seasick when watching a preview of yourself.

Most software either automatically flips it back around to the right way, or gives you an option to do that.

So, when other people see my image in iSight, it is the correct orientation?

You mean, in iChat? Yes, the rest of the world sees you right-side-right (or actually left, since they're on the other side of the screen - i mean, they'll be able to read what's on your shirt without feeling all weird)

Here, Apple can explain it without confusing themselves
