Anyone got a spare laptop mount or one of the stand mounts and a spare cable for the external iSight?

Currently, there's a lot of good prices for the iSight on eBay, but I already have a second one that does not have the mount or the cable. I'd rather get a cable and the mounts for that one versus buying a third iSight just to get the cable and mounts.

The one I bought didn’t come with a cable either but still works fine with a regular FW400 cable fished up through the mount. Dunno if I have an extra mount but I’ll dig around this weekend. If I do, it’s yours.

Thanks, I appreciate it

I've got someone offering me the mounts and if he can find it the cable though, so right now I'm good.

With the laptop mount though and that white collar at the top, only the thin head FW cable works with that. I discovered this with the first iSight I bought when I tried to use regular cables.

Unless yours just naturally has a thinner head than the regular cables I have?

Not at all. The little white mount bit broke on mine but just recently was gifted a replacement piece myself - still missing the cable though. Anyhow, to still use the iSight, in my cable stash, I found a FW cable with a tip that was very very close to the internal circumference of the clear mount & fished that up through my desktop mount. Surprisingly, it works very well.

The only downside to this really is that the cable itself is thick & pretty stiff, so can make Getting the camera mount to sit flat a pita sometimes after repositioning. Overall however, if you are missing the cable/white connector bit, this works very well as a fix until suitable replacement parts are sourced.

Anyhow, if the mount falls through let me know.

Alternatively, you might want to look at getting an original iPod FireWire cable, those were pretty thin, I think similar to the iSight ones.

Hmm, the firewire cable on my 3rd gen iPod is FW400 to 30pin unfortunately so that won’t work. Something like an Apple 6/6pin M8708G/A or 6/4pin M8706G/A might work.

Now that I think about it, I have a thin 4/6pin FW400 cable that I’ll test out. Not quite as thin as the Apple cable but thinner than the cable I’m using now. If the white mounting clip will fit around it, I’ll be set.
