It's about time for a Safari Update...

So I was just surfing as usual and this bug jumps up and bites me!!!

Here's what it does:

Closes all open tabs and returns you to your homepage (when using Safari's auto-tab function)... very annoying...

Here's how to recreate it:

1. In Safari's preferences enable the always show tab bar option. Also have the bookmarks bar showing.

2. The way I have my bookmarks bar set up is as follows:

first: "Apple" (http://www.apple.com... also my homepage)
second: "regulars" (3 sites: http://www.versiontracker.com , https://www.macrumors.com , and http://www.macbytes.com .... Auto-tab enabled)

the rest are just random sites, none auto-tabbed...

3. Once you launch Safari, click the "regulars" bookmark.

4. From any of the 3 subsequent sites, command-click several links to open them in tabs.. (Select new tab when it is created is off)

5. Select one of the tabs then click your 4th or 5th bookmark of your bookmarks bar to open it.

6. Now hit the back button as soon as you click on one of your bookmarks.

That should do it... it does it for me too...

I've submitted a bug report to Apple... Hopefully they fix it.

(It's ABOUT frickin time for a Safari update anyway...)

It's about time for a Safari Update...

What else would you like to see different in Safari other than bug fixes? For me, better cookie handling would be tops, much like OmniWeb's approach.

i'd really like to have an option built-in to save entire websites (including images and flash stuff etc) offline. and i'd like to see that you can do the command-click to open a link in a new tab using your bookmarks. right now i can even hit command-return when i use the search field, but i cannot command-click on a bookmark in the bar or the menu. that would really be a great improvement. i also found that safari is kind of slow when loading java applets, and some of them do not work at all.

but hey, apart from that it's a great browser

hmmm... I didn't say anything about command clicking a bookmark.

I can't seem to recreate this problem with Safari. Personally, I have yet to encounter a single bug with Safari since I got my new PowerBook with 10.2.7/Safari 1.0 installed all the way up to now with 10.3.1/Safari 1.1.1. But I have to agree with the save website feature, that would be awesome to have. I used to use that feature a lot along with the scrapbook feature with IE 5.0 under OS 9 all the time. It was great when you are looking up a few websites for a paper and want to quickly access certain things at any given time.
