Wouldn’t one think that Apple would use vbr since that’s the default they use for iTunes plus importing.

but the songs they sell are cbr. Anyone know why?

Would one even tell the difference between vbr or cbr 256kpbs?

No it's not CBR, it's constrained VBR. iTunes will report 256 Kbit/s but it's variable.

iTunes bought music isn’t cbr? You sure about that. I ripped a track and it’s size was larger than the track bought on iTunes.

Also if iTunes bought music was constrained vbr. Why does it not have the vbr text in the bitrate. It just shows a flat 256
