Hi. I'm wondering if it's possible to use the same iTunes library across both older and newer versions of Mac OS?

My 2011 iMac has Snow Leopard with iTunes 11.4 on the internal drive and High Sierra with iTunes 12.8.2 on an external SSD via Thunderbolt 1. I spend time in both systems and would ideally like to RIP CDs from either to the same shared iTunes library. I've found that using the newer iTunes rewrites the library in a way that means the older iTunes can no longer read it and was curious if it was possible somehow?

At the minute I'm using Snow Leopard to RIP the CD's to iTunes and using Quod Libet as my music player in High Sierra but it would be great if I could also do the ripping and iTunes management in High Sierra as well whilst retaining a shared library between both OS.

Anyone have any ideas?
