Lacie Question

I am interested in buying a LaCie 250GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive (F.A Porsche) and I suspect that other people here may have bought this model before. The model is listed on this page:

I am interested to know the answer to 2 questions:

1. Does it have a fan in, or make anything more than minimal noise?
2. Does it take its power from USB or Wall Socket?

If it does have a fan, can anyone suggest a quieter external HDD model? Thanks for any help on this issue.

I have 2 of these, in answer to your questions:
1. No fan, however the drive in one of mine is very noisy and has been from new the drive in the other is almost silent. I guess they have different make drives in them, though I've not opened them up to look, externally they look identical.
2. They are powered by an external power-brick.

If you have a PPC Mac get one with a Firewire interface so you can boot from it if needed
