In Sierra, playing a 4K HEVC file was a no-go.. mostly a stutter fest with severe frame drops.
Well well.. in High Sierra, looks like HEVC 4K files with approx. 30 Mbps (main 10 btw) do work... even in VLC.
I thought that some form of hardware acceleration was a no-go for the Late 2014 iMac with Haswell. Looks like something got a decent speed upgrade.
EDIT: and with INA .. yep.. all is ok.. they play fine
