When I launch certain software installers the system logs me out (usually around the time I get to the splash screen). If I log back in and run the installer again, the system says that the installer is already running, and I have to restart the computer to stop it.
I tried this from a "test" account, but the same thing happened.
If I boot into Safe Mode, I can install the software. I am suspecting a bad plugin. Is there a log I can look at that will show what causes the system to log out? Or is there some kind of utility that will capture what is happening, so I can diagnose the problem? It's very reproducible.
I'm trying to avoid labor-intensive solutions like a clean install.
Mac Pro 5,1 (mid-2012) running Mojave 10.4.6 with a Radeon RX 580 card.
