Hello,

after having experienced all kinds of (hardware + software) issues with my MacBook Pro, I am taking it tomorrow to the Apple Store, as the warranty will soon be over. I expect them to keep it for a few days as, at the minimum, the display needs to be replaced

I have a ton of personal data on the hard disk (FileVault is on), would you recommend formatting the hd (obviously after a backup)? As said, I also have many software issues, so maybe I need to give them my id & pwd?

Thank you!
Fra

Personally, I wouldn't worry about.

What you could do is set up another administrator account, and give them access only to that.

With FileVault turned on, your other account will be safe.

EDIT - yes, they will want a username and password.

I would back it up, then wipe it, then create a throw away account that they can use. Just my $.02 but I'd rather not provide a laptop with my personal data on it.
