This year and the next should be fairly easy considering current rumors. Anything beyond that is a wild guess to me, especially since potential AR glasses or some new unforeseen tech could shake things up. Let’s hear some creativity!

2020:
  • LiDAR feature for better AR and maybe camera features.
  • Added night mode to ultra-wide mode.
  • Improved night mode with more accurate colors.
  • New industrial a la iPhone 4 design and smaller notch.

2021:
  • Same design as 2020.
  • Added optical zoom modes. 10x at least.
  • Better/bigger camera sensors to significantly improve quality as is usually done is “S” years.

2022:
  • All new design with no notch. All sensors under the screen. Usually apple sticks with 3-year design cycle but this is shortened due to competition from others with all-screen designs and technology advancements.

  • Notch forever. Animoji are too important.
  • Camera tweaks until Kingdom Come.
  • LCD screen says bye bye for good.
  • Each new phone becomes more boring than the last because there's little room for improvement
  • The iPhone will become as interesting as a toaster or dishwasher in the future.

Side note:

In conjunction to all of these facets that likely will become a reality for the iPhone, I also predict by 2021, the Apple Watch (Which is tethered to the iPhone) will be independent totally where it’s it’s ‘own device’ away from the iPhone that serves as a secondary device that’s not reliant on iOS for initial staging.

It’s quickly becoming a main stream device where the iPhone can only offer so many hardware advancements, where the Apple Watch is Changing vastly every year in terms of maturing and becoming it’s own device.

This is the most likely answer. And that’s said of course as an Apple fan.
