all the folders within this printers folder are names of manufacturers, such as epson 705 mb, xerox 495 mb, hp 348 mb, canon 249 mb, lexmark 199 mb, and the remainders are between 2 and 5 mbs.... the only printer i use is an hp photosmart c4280 all in one...

They include every printer driver they can when you get your machine. I have in the past had trouble finding OS X compatible printer drivers when hooking up to a friend's printer or something similar. So yes, it is taking up 2GB of space, but now you don't have to go looking for drivers when you need them, and it is only 2GB of space (god, that feels weird to say)

The last time I purchased a printer was in 2004. I do not see myself planning a purchase anytime in the future and if I do, I would rather "hunt" for that driver and save the 2 GB of space. :)
