After removing the front plate, the sliding drawer of the Lite-On DVD-RW drive comes out too low and scrapes the bottom of the Mac Pro's drive opening, getting stuck about a quarter of its length. I tried adjusting to no avail. So I had to switch the new drive up to the higher bay in order for it to open reasonably well.

I picked this drive because of the recommendation given on the Accelerate Your Macintosh! web page. Just letting everyone know that it takes some fiddling.

Is the Mac Pro anything like the MDDs? I know when I had my MDD, I had to take the front bezel off the drive to make it work properly with the spring loaded doors.

Can you remove the front panel off the tray?

I fitted a Pioneer drive to my old MDD G4 PM and had to take the front off the tray to prevent it fouling as it ejected.

I should clarify: I removed the drawer front panel beforehand. The scraping occured along the bottom of the drawer itself.
