This weekend is the peak of the Perseid Meteor shower. You can listen in. Researchers and amateur radio operators have bounced signals off of the ion trails of meteorites for many years. Ham Radio operators also setup omnidirectional beacons to bounce signals off of these ion trails so the numbers can be counted by the scientist that study this sort of stuff. You can listen in here.
