Locked out of AOL mail in iPhone, iPad after changing password on iMac desktop

Went to Settings -> Accounts & Passwords -> AOL and changed pswd there but iphone didn't seem to take it, i.e can't get AOL mail anymore. Tried deleting the AOL account from phone. It disappeared from the list of accounts but won't let me re-add it to the list, says it's altready there! (And it is in fact there in "App & Website Passwords" -- says "i.aol.com and 2 more".)

Please! I'm not a bad person!
