The external harddrive market is weird. Less than 20 options on Newegg, about the same on Amazon. More options when ordering direct from the manufactur it seems.

Anyway, I'm looking for something compact, USB2.0 or Firewire, 60-100 gigs for less than $220. I saw on Dealmac that there was a Western Digital passport, but after reading some reviews it appears you need to hook it up to an external powersource if you're using a Powerbook (which I am).

Any tips?

I don't own a External HardDrive, but I hear that Lacie is the best. I'm not sure if they make HardDrives as small as you want, but it is worth a look. The Apple store has a 250 GB for $170.
