I am giving a 27" iMac to a friend for his kid to dabble with iMovie. I can only install High Sierra. I did a clean install but found out that iMovie is not in the OS installer. I thought it would be a bit easier to download iMovie for High Sierra but keep hitting brick walls. Not sure if iMovie 9 is the last version that can be installed or if 10 is, but either way, does anyone have an actual installer for these? I get update installers from Apple but when running it asks for the the full version to update.

Check your conversations page.

I think the iLife 11 DVD has a copy of iMovie that will work.

I did manage to get it from an iMovie 9.09 updater file. Found a tutorial on YouTube that walked through it. It was pretty simple, just had to figure out how to "show package contents" again in Mac OS. Once I got that, I found the iMovie 9 application and just dragged and dropped into the applications folder.
