M2 in a A1398?! mid-2012 Retina MBP

All the research I've done tells me - No, you have to use an M.Sata and adapter. Even though they're kind of old and expensive, compared to M2.

Then I came across a review for an adaptor, on the UK version of Amaz on. Item B07H7KCWQR, look in the comments section at the top review. The absolute madman has carefully carved out part of his speaker assembly so there's enough length for what looks like a Crucial MX500 M2 drive.

If I can use an M2 and adapter, even if it means cutting my speaker guard, this massively cuts down the cost of an upgrade...

Anyone else tried it? Can you tell if that photo from the same model as mine? Rather not open my MBP up just yet...

Hi,

I'm in the same situation. I'm looking forward to know if a M2 2280 can fit in there with an adapter. I've found on a french blog post comment that a guy used this adapter: https://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B07S92VF4L

Comments on this product say it's the only one to fit in these A1398 with M2 2280 without modifications.

How did it go for you ?
