I just got a IIFX yesterday, and it wan't too yellowed, but it had no hard drive, and was missing a floppy drive...

The worst problem is that it doesn't turn on! No bong, no noise.. The power supply doesn't even make that electrical noise that shows its processing power.

I really want to get this machine working again!

Any suggestions on where to start working/ repairing this awesome computer?

The PRAM batteries might be dead. There should be two. Earlier models in the II-series had soldered batteries, but I believe the IIfx has battery sockets. The IIfx, along with others in the II-series, will not turn on if the PRAM batteries are dead.

yes, it does have two PRAm batteries...

will the computer turn on if I just take both out? or should I go buy new ones?

The computer must have two good batteries in order to turn on. It will appear completely nonfunctional (as it does now) if the batteries are dead or missing. The ADB and softpower circuit on the logicboard operates from the power provided by these batteries.
