Mac mini 2006 CPU heatsink clamps

Hi guys,

I was just trying to upgrade the cpu in my 2006 mac mini with a slightly speedier one, but all the cpu heatsink clamps snapped when trying to remove them. Does anyone know where I can get new ones? Or a way to replace them with something else?

This happened to me as well last year, I couldn’t find any replacements either. Googled it and some one mentioned using zip ties, I copied that and seems to have worked.

The heat sink on my 2006 mini has been happily held down by zip ties for several years now. Good luck!
