Hi.

I just purchased a Mac mini 2,5 i5 on ebay. I really hope all works fine when it arrives. It comes with 4 GB of RAM pre-installed. However, I really want to upgrade RAM because Lightroom takes a lot of it.

I'm still puzzled what kind of RAM fits into the Mini and will work best. Is this the right RAM? What's the difference between both kinds?
- SO-DIMM 4 GB DDR3-1333 CL9
- SO-DIMM 4 GB DDR3-1333 CL11

Somewhere I've read that the Mac mini can support 16 GB of RAM. Is this true? Some say yes, some say no. Should I go for 16 GB?

I got 2 Corsair 8Mb Mac modules and they run great. It is only 80€ for 16Gb right now, so it is not that expensive.
Since I have no SSD yet, I run 4Gb as RAM-disk for scratch disk in programs like Photoshop. It makes stuff a lot faster, since the built in drive is not that fast for scratch.

Thanks.

Does anybody know the difference between CL9 and CL11 ? I think I can simply ignore those values and buy whatever suits me best...

Thanks. Then I'll go for the cheaper version. I'll wait a little and buy a SSD alongside. That should keep the Mini competitive for some years I hope. :)

Sorry to raise this thread from the dead, but would 16gb ram increase the vram to 1gb since 8gb ram knocks it up to 512mb?

I have the 2,5 GHz model with dedicated graphics. I think the screen shots speak for themselves. :)

Probably just wishful thinking from me lol!

Thanks :)

Yes, wishful thinking. 512 is the max.
