My wife 2011 mini is getting so slow it may just lock up I reinstalled the newest os and it did jot help I plugged in a USB drive and used recovery to install what ended up as lion on it seemed to run well till I updated it when I ran diagnostics I got this error. I have a spare 8 gigs of memory I can swap out.

Yeah, that's a memory error alright. You might try re-seating the memory modules to see if that fixes the problem, but most likely, you'll need to figure out which module is bad and have it replaced. (Bad memory can cause all sorts of problems when running the machine...)

I have two from my defunct mini so it is easy to replace. My wife does not use it often so I hate to buy a new one.

Should not be a problem, if it was the same kind of Mini. The 2011 uses 1333 MHz (or faster) DDR3 SDRAM SO-DIMM modules, so memory from a 2011 or 2012 Mini should work. Not sure if RAM from an older Mini would be compatible...

Memtest86, run from its own boot device, is a great way to check for memory problems.

http://www.memtest86.com/

Memory test software cannot check memory that's already allocated and in use for other purposes. That's why you want to run it from its own boot disk instead of within Windows or OS X, both of which are obvious using a bunch of memory for the OS itself and allocating even more.

well the mini runs but my wife tried turning on voiceover and it would not load so thats pretty much history for it. new memory and new hard drive not much else can be done.
