I have a Samsung HL61A750 and a mac mini 2.53 with 4gb ram.

Going to use it as a HTPC and have a question about connections. On my samsung i have 3 hdmi's(which all are being used) and a rgb pc connection that i'm using right now with a htpc that displays 1080p(samsung detects 1080p through my pc connection). My question is will the macmini display 1080p through the pc connection or do i have to connect the mini through hdmi. Also, what is the proper cable to use for 5.1digital.

you can do up to 1920x1200 over DVI or VGA. so 1920x1080 (1080p) should work if that's the native resolution of your tv.
