I want to get a mac mini, however i would like to hook it to my hdtv.
I know i have to get an adapter for the minidvi/usb to make hdmi.

My question is... do I need a mac monitor hooked up too, or can i plug in the adapter and only use the hdmi port on my tv?

I don't have a mac monitor nor will i buy one, so buying a mac mini ultimately depends on me being able to use my current hdmi devices instead of a monitor.

Can anyone advise, Ive searched everywhere and can only find people using the hdmi as well as a monitor and cloning or expanding their desktop to it.

Just get a MiniDisplayPort to HDMI cable at MonoPrice and connect to your HDTV, but you get no sound through it.
