Resolved Mac Pro 2008 Crossfire using Apple HD5770 and flashed XFX HD5770 [photos]

I've installed genuine Apple Radeon HD5770 card as a second card in my Mac Pro 2008 with Crossfire bridge.

Everything is working well on both Mac OS X and Windows, but I when I start Catalyst Control Center and Enable Crossfire it shows me blue screen of death ???

I was using both Catalyst 11.2 stable and Catalyst 11.4 beta.

Apple card is in slot 1, XFX card is in slot 2.

The good thing is that the XFX card is now working in PCI Express 2.0 16x mode - 5 GT/s !!!

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Sell both 5770's and get a 5870. You'll get the same or better performance as 5770 crossfire with no need for crossfire. You'll get the performance benefit in OS X that you wouldn't with crossfire. You'll save two slots.

simply means ATI Driver crashed...

Something must be messed up with drivers. I've tried installed other older versions and still not luck. Now even CCC doesn't start.

GPU-Z tells me Crossfire available.

It works ! New Catalyst versions are screwed up !

Only 10.11 and older work with such setup.

The XFX card is having 1353 rpm in idle, while Apple card only 746 rpm and it's completely silent.

The good thing is that my XFX card is now working in PCI Express 2.0 16x mode !

How it looks like You need to mount Crossfire bridge with such cards, but it works !

I don't mean to dig up an old thread...but I do.

I've got a mac pro 2008 running snow leopard 10.6.6 and an nvidia geforce8800GT card. I've been trying desparately to find any info remotely related to dual cards on a mac pro running sli/crossfire. My understanding is that at best you can install dual cards and then run more monitors but nothing to the effect of utilizing both GPU's to DO anything. Or am I severely mistaken?

I'd like to get dual cards up and running and I'm under the impression that the OP has dual cards recognized by both mac and windows (which leads me to believe they're mac native cards or flashed and hacked) and that both mac and windows read the Crossfire??? or is it that windows only reads the crossfire and mac just reads the second card as a place to plug monitors?

Any info is welcomed. Thanks.

Still the same. Even on the newest drivers.

New crossfire bridge didn't helped. AMD developers must hate Apple cards.

Catalyst 10.11 works ok.
