Mac Pro 2009 - downgrade to MP41.0081.807

Hello everyone
I have a problem with my Mac pro 2009
some time ago (5 month ago), I had MP41.0081.807 ROM version (image first.png)
Now after some updates (upgrade firmware) and install Mojave, I have the next ROM 140.0.0.0.0
but I don't know why I have this ROM 140.0.0.0.0 now (image - second.png)

I need back to MP41.0081.807 ROM, does any body know how start ?

Why you want to this? After the downgrade you will only run El Capitan and won’t have access to any APFS formated disks.

It’s a complicated process, practically impossible to be done by anyone who don’t have a very good understanding about Mac Pro BootROMs and should not be done without a very good reason.

and I have this error (see image)

reading in some forums, some people say that check the firmware, some other if my Mac doesn't let install docker because doesn't has some requirements.

The point is, if I install VMware fusion , I can configure an ubuntu machine and after first install , I can install docker.
But I need to know if it's possible to install docker into my actual Mac Pro, and what I need ?


One more think:
on this link I can validate that my computer has the virtualization capability , isn't ? (see image vmx.png)

So, you want to downgrade to a MP4,1 firmware, lose APFS and the capability to run Sierra, High Sierra and Mojave for a thing that you don’t know if it works? You should re-think this…

your current CPUs are Nehalem CPUs

this is why docker wont run

your firmware has no affect on your issue

infact you need the firmware your on, to allow Westmere CPUs to work, which is what you need to run docker

TLDR: upgrade to Westmere CPUs to run docker, dont worry about your BootROM

No. Docker requires instructions that you processor don't have. You have to upgrade your Xeons to Westmere.

Downgrading to MP4.1 will bring you nothing.

A MP4,1 firmware won't run Sierra, a Docker requirement, and you don't have Westmere Xeons, another requirement.

Yes.

Buy two Westmere Xeons like X5677, X5680 or X5690, de-lid them and then install it. There are lots of threads about the upgrade process, just use the search.

Can't answer that, VMware Fusion or Ubuntu are making something, maybe even Docker for Linux don't need Westmere only instructions. Ask Docker support directly.

Do a search for the upgrade threads, read & follow. This will give you all the answers. It’s all, already documented. No use to keep posting same info over and over again. Just do a search, and look at the upgrade sticky’s.

1- the new CPU must be Westmere to use docker? , because on docker requirements say --> Mac hardware must be a 2010 or new (see image docker)

2- my mac pro is early 2009 with firmware modified : from 4.1 to 5.1
a - will accept the new CPU ?
b - could i install docker before buy it and put into my mac ?

3- How much longer will I be able to continue using this mac in the future?

I already answered this, even put screenshots. Don’t make the same questions again, it won’t change the answer.

2009 with MP5,1 firmware is functionally identical as a 2010/2012.

Some cheaper single CPU 2010 and 2012 Mac Pro models came with Nehalem Xeons too. These won’t work with Docker either.

2009 dual CPU trays accept upgraded processors if you de-lid them.

Use the search, this is extensively covered here, please do your homework.

Sure, but Docker won’t even open.

Mojave will receive security updates until at least September 2021.
