Hi,

I've been using my MBA 2011 with a HP 2311x display for quite a while now. I had to change my setup a bit and ordered an extra VGA cable from Amazon which turned out to be a cheap, poor quality cable that caused ghosting issues. It also caused a black bar to appear on the left even though the resolution was 1920 x 1080 on a 1080p monitor.

I've tried restarting, using it with my other 2311x monitor but it has the exact same issue. I've also tried adjusting the monitor itself but when I plug my PC in via VGA it has no issue, so it appears to be with the mac.

So now it just seems to be using about 80-90% of the screen horizontally. It's very bizarre.
What can I do?
Thanks.

EDIT: Fixed it with a PRAM reset. Yaaay.
