I am getting an error message, ‘Time Machine Couldn’t complete the backup to “Time Machine” when I try to use Time Machine to back up my Sinology DS216J NAS.
  1. The NAS shows up as a network drive on the Mac.
  2. I can transfer files to it directly from the Mac and from my PC.
  3. I can access it via the browser, so I have access to the Control Panel etc.
  4. I have attempted to follow the instructions given at https://kb.synology.com/en-us/DSM/t...connecting_to_Synology_NAS_using_Time_Machine (Method 2) but I am not sure I am doing it correctly.
May terminal instruction is:

sudo tmutil setdestination -p “afp://Aushiker@http://192.168.1.10:5000//MacBook Air.sparsebundle”

I tried the above instruction with Time Machine instead of MacBook Air.sparsebundle but that didn’t work either.

My folder structure on the NAS is per the screen grab.

I am hoping someone has advice on the terminal instruction and/or other fixes.
