Hi guys what do you make of the on-board graphics - think it will handle 720p at a decent bitrate (say 4000kb/s) ??

I have a '05 powerbook with a 9700 gfx card in it and that struggles.....
I would like to watch the odd HD movie in bed now and then :)

Cheers.

It will chew through h.264 as the X3100 can decode this in hardware. The 9700 does not have silicon to do this. Apart from that the X3100 is severely underpowered compared to the 9700.

It's the same as the late '07 Sant Macbooks - Intel GMA X3100

It's not amazing (only just copes with most games) but it'll do the job fine.

720p is probably going to be a problem. Anything bigger (and with more pixels) than say a 26" screen and the 3100 probably won't be able to cope.
