My mom is going to be getting a MacBook soon. For those with Mac laptops, how do you handle the OS X maintenance scripts since I'm assuming most people sleep/shutdown their machines.

I have a Mac Pro that's up 24x7, so I know all the scripts run.

Do people worry about them?
Do they run when the machine wakes up?

I don't know. I use MainMenu, and just run them every so often. Usually once a day if I'm going to be away from my computer for a little bit, or once a week just to be safe. I almost never turn my laptop off, but when I do, it takes a while, so it could be that it's running the scripts. Not too sure.
