MacBook doesn't recognize optical drive

As the title says..

The thing used to read DVDs from time to time, but sometimes they would just spin up and take a long time to eject. Now, it doesn't even accept the CD when I put it in the drive (normally it sucks it in), and toast/system profiler both say they cannot find the optical drive. This is on a brand new MacBook that Apple shipped me to replace my last garbage one.

Your thoughts? Any way to get this thing to read on my own? I don't know why it stopped recognizing it.

Might be a loose connection, why not send it back to Apple instead of trying to play Apple certified technician?

Well, I guess I will take it in to a service center and see what they say. Thank you. Sigh.
