MacBook pro 17" 2010 won't power on

MacBook turned off in the middle of ps..won't turn back on..dim green light..no power at all no chim

2010 MacBook pro 17" turned off.wont power back on. Has faded green light on charger...no power at all..changed magsafe plug on inside ..still doesn't power on..battery seems dead. Buying new battery see if that works.cant get a ding sound.
