MacBook Pro 2019 - 16 inch / Locked Hard Drive

Hi everyone,

I've been enjoying my MacBook Pro 16 inch but I borked the installation process as did a migration assistant port from my old MacBook Pro over to the new machine.

So what is the best way for me to get my hard drive back to being unlocked?

I would like to keep my current MacBook Pro 16 inch stuff so just do a backup via Time Machine first then what steps?

I'm asking as a lot of the information online on fixing locked hard drives is on the older machines and not the ones with the T2 security chip / Touch ID etc

Because my hard drive is now locked, I can't do any updates to the OS etc. I've held off installing programs due to these issues.

My advice will WIPE the internal drive, so be aware of that.

Boot to this special version of INTERNET recovery:
shift option command R

You'll need your wifi password.
Be patient, it takes some time to load.

When you get to the internet utilities, open disk utility.
IMPORTANT STEP:
Go to the view menu and choose "show all devices".

On the left, select the top line which represents the drive inside the MBP.
ERASE it to APFS with GUID partition format.

Does the erase go through?
OK, then, now it's time to open the OS installer and do a fresh install...
