Resolved MacBook Pro Hard Drive; What's best?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but I thought I'd start myself off with a question I partially know the answer to. I'm deciding on the premium model MacBook Pro, and I notice the option to either do the 750GB @5400rpm or a 500GB @7200rpm....My question is, what's better for speed? I'm not to picky on the hard drive as the Dell I'm using now is a 250GB and it's sure plenty. I figured it'd be the 7200rpm one...but the second part to my question is: How big of a speed difference is it? A lot, tiny, huge, MEGA, what? :confused:

7200 RPM is faster. not by an amazing amount, but it is appreciable, maybe a ballpark of 15%. If you don't need the extra space, then I'd get the 7200 RPM drive.

Not exactly...a lot of it depends on the individual drive. Furthermore, higher also (usually) means higher power consumption, smaller size, and higher prices. They can also be quite noisy. The 10,000 RPM VeliciRaptors are IMO annoying loud even for desktops. So the drive speed often depends on the user's needs.

Not to highjack the thread, but speaking about hard drives..

Is there an HDD limit that the MBP's will allow? Such as 1TB, or 1.5TB?

I currently have a 500GB HD on my 2009 MBP, but am down to less than 60GB's of space now and am wanting to upgrade. 1TB's aren't too expensive, but if 1.5TB's are allowed then I may bite that bullet.

1TB is the biggest that will fit in a MBP, although it is limited to 5400 RPM.

1TB is the biggest right now made in a 2.5" drive. Optibay could be an option too so that you could use 2 1TB drives.
