Macbook wont read external hard drive

I have a 60gb 2.5'' external hard drive. Yesterday it was working fine when connected to my Macbook, but then i reinstalled OSx, and now when i connect it, nothings happening. Occasionally i get the message ''drive cannot be read by OSx'' but it can be read fine by my Windows PC.

Anyone know what could be wrong?.

You might get more input if you give more info. Hard drive model, connection, OS X version would at least point us towards possible solutions. Anything else you think could be insightful might also help us help you.
