Resolved MacPro1,1 known graphics cards compatibility

My company workstation, a MacPro1,1 Dual-Core Intel Xeon 3Ghz G5, has the build-to-order NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 video card option.

Trying to upgrade to FCP X, it states that the graphics card is not supported. After Effects also crashes upon opening Video Co-Pilot's Element 3D plug-in which was freshly installed.

I'm looking for a graphics card that is supported not only by my machine, but both programs. I have a list of supported cards for both programs (of course the FX 4500 is not supported on either) but have no idea which card is supported on my specific Mac Pro.

I'd prefer to stay away from flashed units, and stay under a $500-$600 budget, since we will be upgrading this machine hopefully next year.

Does anyone have a link to a site that lists specifically which cards are supported by my hardware? I see on Apple's Tech Specs page, it list the other Built-to-Order options [http://support.apple.com/kb/SP30], but I'm looking for a list of known compatible units.)

Both of Apple's current official cards, the 5770 and the 5870, are compatible although not officially supported on 1,1. Both are in your budget.

Just so you know, the Mac Pro and PowerMac G5 are completely different machines, they just look alike.

Thanks, I was in the process of going through and highlighting video cards that were on both lists, the 5870 was one of them, but I wasn't sure of compatibility with my machine.

I will put in a purchase request with our purchasing department.

This is true... My Power Mac G5 is at home (actually an old work machine) that I only use remotely from my rMBP, while the work Mac Pro is still performing relatively swiftly but soon to be upgraded.
