I’m thinking of grabbing a mag safe wallet or similar (off brand). Am I able to use any case with them? I don’t need an apple case right?

Just purchased two off brand MagSafe products this past month including Tesla MagSafe small portable charger. Both proved useless.

As long as the case supports MagSafe you can use it with MagSafe products. I.E. my speck case has MagSafe magnets and works with my MagSafe accessories. An Otterbox commuter case, which does not have magnets inbuilt, would not work with MagSafe accessories.
