Hello,
In the past few days, I suddenly started having an issue where my MagSafe charger suddenly stopped working completely. I compared it side by side with a working one and they look quite different. Please see the pictures below. Does anyone have any idea what caused this to happen? Has this ever happened to anyone? Thanks in advance.

Those outer pins are the ground connection for charging. I’ve also had the springs fail and stick in like that; it’s a major pain to tear the connector head apart and replace them.
The USB-C cable is a great option; I use a MagSafe 2 one regularly.
If you are comfortable soldering and reading your current charger apart, you can get a replacement cable for your existing charger:

(First result for “MagSafe cable L-tip”; you may want to choose one that will match the wattage of your current adapter - this one is 60W)

Photos from my dremel modifications

One is a 27 LED Cinema Display MagSafe1 connector dremeled down the long sides to also fit into MagSafe2
The other is a USB C to MagSafe2 cable dremeled down the short sides to also fit MagSafe1

I've tested with MBA2009, MB2009, MBP2008, MBP2010, and MBP2015 and both cables work with all Macs.
