If I’m on WiFi, my stock mail app frequently takes up to two minutes “checking for mail...”

This problem doesn’t exist on LTE.

Nor does it exist at my parents’ house. Their WiFi is the only one on the planet where mail works properly.

I imagine there’s a network setting on their Xfinity router that is different. Any ideas what it might be, so I can fix my personal Netgear WiFi network?

What are your speedtest results at the locations where it works and does not work?

See if changing the DNS on your router (to public ones) improves the connectivity. Alternately, you can change the DNS on your iOS device for the particular wifi network at Settings>Wi-Fi>[info circle next to right of connected network]>Configure DNS. If it's on "Automatic" it's getting DNS from the router's DNS settings.

Looks like my brief reprieve from mail issues was just a fluke. It’s no longer any quicker at my parents’ house. I miss iOS 12.
