I just read the review and while positive, its hard to recommend an unknown company with no track record. So much so, if you're looking for a Linux laptop, then I'd definitely give System 76 a hard look.

Here's how the Aon S1 (which is a 14" laptop) stacks up against a couple of System 76 laptops.
Aon S1:
i7-1200H, 16GB of ram, RTX 2050, 1TB of storage puts the cost at 1647.

System 76:
Lemur (14" laptop)
i7-1355u, 16GB or ram, 1TB (Not GPU selection) is 1,435

76 Gazelle (15" laptop)
i9-13900H, 16GB of ram, RTX 3050, 1tb of storage is 1,423

I don’t see myself going to Linux 100% only because of tax software, and to a smaller extent the need for Office so files can be shared with others with all metadata preserved and rendered correctly.

I wish we weren’t so locked in.

I'd love a System 76 laptop, but friggin' Retina has really ruined me and I can't tolerate a 1080p screen anymore. Lots of great ultraportable options out there that would be perfect if I could just get a little more dpi.

Maybe, but it’s a reputable company with a long track record of good support. Malibel? Never heard of them. System 76 for the win.

Actually The Lemur laptop from System 76 is lighter.
The Aon S1 is 2.8 lbs
System 76 Lemur 2.5 lbs

Plus with System 76, you can a company that has an established track record, and known customer support

Rather odd comparison that seems rather slanted. Should have compared M2 MacBook Air or M2 14" MacBook pro.

Linux is great and I love it but in practical use for most average users it is non starter for several reasons.

Lenovo and Dell also make Linux based laptops.

In any event it is always nice to see more competition in this space.
