Prior to Mac OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) the power buttons on MacBooks had the function if you held it down for about 1.5
seconds to give the "Are you sure you want to shutdown your computer now" screen. This splash screen also had quick links
to Sleep and Restart that were activated by pressing the "S" key to sleep and pressing the "R" key to restart. The Shutdown
button was highlighted with a pulsing button indicating the default and pressing the Return key initiated the Shutdown.
Kinda neat it was all initiated with the press of the Power button.

With OS X 10.9 Apple changed the power buttons function where the 1.5 second press results in an instant Sleep mode. To
get the original splash screen you have to hold down the power button for 5 seconds. Most of us know that just 2 more seconds
leads to a FORCED SHUTDOWN and ALL DATA that you've been working on is LOST. Bad idea Apple. Oh Apple gave a work-
around by having us hold the Control key down and press the Power button and if your MB has a media eject key you us it
combined with the Control key.

Someone found the true fix with a Terminal command of :

defaults write com.apple.loginwindow PowerButtonSleepsSystem -bool no

But this only seems to work on Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks. It does not work on my MacBook Pro unibody running Mac OS 10.12
Sierra. Does anyone know of a Terminal command that will put back the above function of the Power button? If so please
post here.

Thanks,
