I’s having an issue with messages in the cloud. When I go into my messages app all my iMessages and texts are there as normal, around 30 conversations I have going on at the moment.

But when I go to my messages storage in iCloud settings, only about half of them are uploaded to iCloud. The ones that are there are updated like normal but I find it weird how some conversations are there and some aren’t.

Am I missing something? Is this a bug?

EDIT: Upon looking is it possible that only conversations with over a certain number of messages show there?

Yes. Only conversations with attachments will be shown. Its handles the test messages (chat database) separately.

You can test if its updating yourself but sending a message to a conversation that is listed but not from "today". As soon as you do you'll see it will have been updated to "today".
