I am going to attempt to help somebody over the phone to migrate files from his CRT iMac and PowerPC 6600 (performer?) to a 1.25GHz G4 MacMini.

Both old computers are running OS 9.4 and i guess one of them will freeze up if a USB flash drive is used. He does have a router. What would the easiest way be to get files off the computers and on the MacMini?

Would the migration assistance work when he registers the mini for the first time after i installed 10.5.8?
