Today I received the 9967 case from Monoprice. For $11, I'd say it's a great value. A bit thicker and heavier than the Apple Smart Cover, but offers better protection. Has magnets in the cover that work with the sleep/wake function, but not as strong to the face and the cover "flops" a bit more and is not as flat at the Apple version.

Even though it is thicker, I do like that the back is better protected. And for about 1/4 the cost, I'd give it an 8. Here are some photos I just took.

This looks similar to the Poetic SlimLine case... Any particular reason you went with this over the $5 Poetic case?

I'm not familiar with the Poetic case. But I have bought a lot of items from Monoprice the past few years and most all have been very good quality. This one is very similar to the iPad 2 version I bought last year so I had a good idea how it would be.

Here's the link for the thread on the Poetic SlimLine, https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1490330/. It's a very good case for $5... The monoprice case looks decent, and a good price since you did not know about the Poetic case.

I found and was just reading that thread while you were posting. I ordered mine on 11/13 and got it today. They sure do look similar! Though some slight differences in the mold and finish. For $5, that Poetic looks like a steal!

Comparing with the Poetic Slimline

Thanks for your very helpful review and photos.

I just got the Poetic Slimline, and looking at your photos closely, the Monoprice case appears to have stitching around the perimeter of the front cover, which the Poetic does not (and I'm a little concerned that the Poetic cover could delaminate). I'm guessing the Monoprice may be a little higher quality.
